This 110 page A4 revision guide is one of a series of
low-cost downloads that has been produced for A level students.
This guide is based around Option 5 from the Edexcel
syllabus (but is of course usable by students following other courses too) and
covers pollution and human health risk.
The booklet, which may be printed out and copied for all
student to have, or which can be put onto the school learning platform, costs
just £10 plus VAT. It includes revision
notes, sample answers and activities, covering all aspects of the global
synoptic context, risks to human health, causes of health risk, pollution, and
managing the health risk.
Throughout there are summaries of what the student needs to
know, the key terms (epidemiology, infectious, degenerative, chronic,
hereditary, endemic etc etc) and numerous illustrations to help the student
understand key points.
The aim throughout is to help the student get to the core of
the matter and grasp the basic elements of the subject, building up his/her
knowledge and certainty around the subject.
A typical page centres on diseases associated with level of
development of a country, and examines the disease, the causes and the symptoms
of (by way of example) the Bilharzia Snail, mosquitoes and Guinea Worm.
The volume is only available as a download – not as a
printed book.
